Notes

main mash :

3.50 lbs 2 row, 56 oz pale malt

6.3 oz carapils

3.2 caramel 120

Rice mash : (substitue the caramel 120 to the rice mash because that’s what ended up the the mini mash.) All the pale malt was in the main mash.

16 oz raw rice

5.4 oz pale malt

Mix the rice and the malt to 1/2 gallon cool water , heat to 172 degrees and hold 20 minutes.

bring the mash to a boil gently and stir for 15 minutes, mixture will gelatinize.

cool and add to the main mash.

If you are a barley lover, just the mini mash of this combination was fantatsic to taste when the mini mash was done. It had a dark color and some was put aside , added salt and pepper and tasted, could have been a side dish with an addition of some herbs and seasonings. Sort of like a pilaf  or a risoto, but more thick, dark and tasty. A amlted barley side dish with rice!
